With soaring energy prices over the last five years that seem to never end, communities across Virginia are struggling. But since taking office in January 2026, Governor Spanberger is leading the nation in decreasing utility costs for the Commonwealth, making it easier to access more affordable energy like solar. Her nation-leading energy efforts include Switch Together. This program helps people in the state go solar with their neighbors at a discount, saving thousands of dollars on electricity.

Signed new laws in April to help homes and businesses use more solar power and batteries
Created Virginia’s first Chief Energy Officer
Governor Spanberger joined governors from across the country to push for lower power costs and ensure families aren’t stuck paying unfair energy costs caused by data centers
New laws to support energy storage, energy-saving programs, and protections for families’ energy bills were signed into law in June
